Standard Job Description
Develops and implements safety program to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws. Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment, facilities, to determine if all safety precautions have been included. Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence.
You will be the Senior Construction Safety Engineer for the Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) team at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control (MFC). Our team is responsible for safeguarding all construction projects at the Troy, Alabama facility.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Construction Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for leading ESH responsibilities to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with construction safety requirements, large greenfield construction projects and equipment instillations.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Basic Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in construction safety, or a minimum of 7 years of experience in construction safety.
• Experience with large construction projects that include risks such as fall hazards, rigging, electrical safety, hot work, confined space, cranes and trenching.
• Ability to interpretate and apply industry and regulatory standards (NFPA, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, and DOD).
• Skill in collecting, analyzing, and presenting Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) metrics to stakeholders, offering insights and recommendations for enhancement.
• Experience in equipment instillation and start-up activities to ensure ESH compliance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, productive relationships with internal customers at all levels of the organization.
• Competence in reading, interpreting, and hazard identification based on technical drawings and documentation.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and must have at a minimum an interim Secret security clearance prior to start.
• Ability to work additional time outside of normal work schedule.
• Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ("ATF") background check to obtain approval to be an "employee possessor" (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment
Desired Skills
• Certified Lift Truck Instructor.
• Fall Protection Competent Person Certification.
• Experience with robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing.
• Possess a current 30-Hr OSHA Construction Training Certification.
• ADEM Qualified Credentialed Inspector for Stormwater Inspections.

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing and ensuring compliance with all regulations and procedures for Lockheed Martin construction and equipment projects
- Participating in design reviews for construction projects
- Conducting safety inspections, throughout each day, of all construction/equipment instillation activity
- Reviewing and approving lift plans, fall protection plans, scaffolding plans, respirator programs, trenching plans and others safety plans requiring ESH approval in the Lockheed Martin ESH Contractor Manual
- Conducting incident investigations, and recommending corrective action solutions
- Applying applicable DOD, NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and ANSI standards
- The ideal candidate should be prepared to work on-call and across various shifts as needed, and occasional travel may be required
