What We're Doing
This requisition is for a First Line Manager (FLM) position of a RF Engineering team part of the RF Front End and Power Design center within the SEMS REAS organization. The FLM will report directly to the Senior Manager of RF Front End and Power Design.
The Work
• The FLM will provide technical, programmatic, and administrative leadership to a group of approximately 16-20 engineers of varying experience levels.
• The manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of requirements into designs for multiple programs; coordination with programs, manufacturing and subject matter experts for the development of designs and manufacturing efforts; recommendations, planning and execution of IRAD efforts; supporting business pursuits and proposals; and developing key expertise needed to grow the business in this area.
• The manager will oversee the design, development, documentation, and testing of RF equipment and related hardware.
• The manager will lead and ensure that the appropriate standards, processes, procedures are followed throughout the hardware development life cycle.

Directs the architecting and designing of Radio Frequency systems and circuitry. Coordinates subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Manages the design and development of RF circuitry used in high frequency and microwave applications, including receivers, transmitters, antennas, and frequency synthesizers. Leads the staff responsible for hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and test. Oversees the preparation of the following: test methods and specifications; analysis and testing of RF hardware to verify performance characteristics. Provides inputs to Product Development for formal documentation and supports manufacturing during the deliverable assembly and test phase. Manages the development of RF System/Subsystem Architectures consisting of: antennas, transmitters, receivers, low noise amplifiers, high power amplifiers, RF conversion elements and transmission line equipment. Coordinates link analysis and optimization, including effects of propagation medium and possible interference sources. Manages the development and allocation of RF system and subsystem functional and performance requirements. Oversees the identification and tracking of RF technical performance measurements (TPMs). Monitors RF system/subsystem/component trade studies and CAIV analysis. Supports Life Cycle Costs, reliability, availability, and maintainability analysis.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field + minimum 10 years relevant professional engineering experience.
- Demonstrated competence in managing cross-disciplinary teams with a strong understanding of hardware engineering processes and the hardware engineering product life cycle.
- Experience in strategic development and the development of strategic relations.
- Experience in earned value, schedule, cost, and risk management techniques.
- Experience managing complex technical systems, programs and IRAD projects.
- Experience driving strategic activities pertaining to RF engineering
- Experience executing on IRAD/CRAD contracts
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security Clearance
Desired Skills
-Prior people management experience inlcuding leading, movitating and coaching a team
-Experience communicating at both programmatic and technical levels with subordinates, senior management levels and the customer.
- Technical graduate degree is highly desirable.
- Experience working with subcontractors and vendors.
- Occasional travel is required, must be willing to travel.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $166900.00 - $309900.00
