Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an Integrated Database Administration & SME to support KPS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

Koniag Professional Services is seeking an experienced Integrated Database Administration & SME to support our client, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in developing a secure, scalable, and integrated Human Capital Management (HCM) solution that consolidates core HR functions into a unified enterprise platform as part of OPM's HR 2.0 initiative.
This position may require occasional travel to client sites in Washington, DC and Atlanta, Georgia, as well as to the company office in Chantilly, Virginia, based on business needs.
Travel to a federal badging office will be required one or more times during onboarding and/or throughout employment to complete credentialing requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
- Enterprise Database Management & Operations
- Manage and maintain enterprise database systems across on premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
- Lead performance tuning initiatives by identifying bottlenecks, optimizing SQL queries, and implementing corrective actions.
- Administer cloud database platforms including Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and support hybrid deployments.
- Implement and enforce database security controls, including encryption, access management, auditing, and compliance with federal standards.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain SQL replication to ensure data consistency across distributed systems.
- Design, orchestrate, and support ETL/ELT workflows for data integration, transformation, and movement across enterprise systems.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams to support mission critical, data driven initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior DBAs, and contribute to strategic database planning.
- Cross Platform SME Support (Oracle, SAP HANA, Informatica, Payroll Systems)
- Serve as a functional and technical SME between stakeholders and DBA teams across government environments.
- Gather, refine, and document business requirements for Oracle and SAP HANA database enhancements.
- Define data mapping, transformation rules, and cross platform documentation for multi system integrations.
- Coordinate schema changes, release cycles, testing activities, and cross database dependencies.
- Create technical specifications, process documentation, and data flow diagrams supporting modernization and integration efforts.
- Support validation, UAT, and data integrity checks following deployments, migrations, or system updates.
- Provide ongoing SME guidance for Payroll systems, Data Engineering, and Informatica workflows.
- Deliver architecture support for systems under OCIO, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategies.
- Oracle Database Administration
- Administer, maintain, and enhance Oracle database environments across development, test, and production tiers.
- Develop SQL/PLSQL scripts, schema objects, stored procedures, and deployment packages.
- Maintain and optimize schemas, tables, indexes, and database objects to improve performance and scalability.
- Perform database health checks, diagnostics, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Manage backups, recoveries, environment refreshes, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Support migrations, data loads (Data Pump, SQL Loader), and schema updates.
- Troubleshoot database issues and collaborate with application teams to resolve performance or functional problems.
- SAP HANA Database Administration
- Administer and optimize SAP HANA tenant databases, schemas, tables, procedures, and calculation views.
- Monitor and tune HANA performance using SQLScript, workload analysis, and memory management tools.
- Perform delta merges, column store optimization, table partitioning, and lifecycle management of in memory structures.
- Configure, validate, and monitor HANA backups, restores, and system replication for high availability.
- Support SDI/SDA/SLT data provisioning, flowgraphs, and staging layers for real time and batch integrations.
- Troubleshoot SQL performance, memory utilization, and database service issues across distributed HANA landscapes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in database administration (SAP Hana Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or similar platforms).
- Experience supporting both on‑premises and cloud database environments (Azure, AWS).
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration workflows.
- Strong hands‑on experience with SAP Hana Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise database platforms.
- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting complex database issues.
- In‑depth knowledge of database encryption, access controls, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, T‑SQL, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong understanding of SQL replication technologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
