Job Description
DCS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Test Engineer to support the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Electronic Systems PEO (AFLCMC/ES). The Electronic Systems System (ESS) Division (aka Force Protection Division) mission responsibility is to manage and execute the modernization, design, development, testing, fielding, and sustainment of the various software and hardware within the ESS Portfolio.
This is a full-time position located at Hanscom AFB, MA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Lead Test Role: Serve as the primary testing lead working directly with the Government Program Manager (PM) and Lead Engineer (EN) to drive program status, critical thinking, and technical support.
• T&E Strategy Development: Develop and document the overarching Test and Evaluation (T&E) Strategy for the program.
• Integrated Test Management: Lead government oversight within an integrated test team environment and serve as the primary testing lead for MSS leadership and external stakeholders, including Air Combat Command.
• Test Documentation & Execution: Document test concept development, test methodologies, test plans, test execution, test reporting, data reduction, analysis, and operational testing activities.
• Capabilities Validation: Validate software capabilities against intended operational outcomes from an end-to-end mission perspective.
• Automated & DOE Testing: Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies to plan and conduct test programs, while assessing contractor test automation coverage for mission-critical capabilities.
• Environment & Fault Evaluation: Evaluate test environments to ensure proper configuration for software release testing, including fault insertion and fault identification activities.
• Technical Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and review criteria, analyses, specifications, cost estimates, test plans, and technical reports using advanced engineering techniques.
• Test Quality & Effectiveness: Review and evaluate the quality, adequacy, and effectiveness of test results and conclusions to develop innovative solutions to testing challenges.
• Schedule Deconfliction: Deconflict testing schedules across multiple software releases and provide actionable recommendations to program leadership.
• Compliance & Velocity: Support Integrated Test and Evaluation (IT&E) efforts to increase testing velocity, reduce costs, and accelerate capability delivery while ensuring full compliance with DoD and USAF regulations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• U.S. Citizenship: Required due to customer sensitivity requirements.
• Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret Level Clearance.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 12 years of directly related experience (including 4 years in a DoD setting) OR Master's Degree with 10 years of directly related experience (including 4 years in a DoD setting).
• Test Artifact & SQA Development: Demonstrated ability to formulate and maintain test cards, test plans, site checkout procedures, and Software Quality Assurance (SQA) procedures.
• Field & Acceptance Testing: Direct experience with site acceptance testing and collaborating effectively with site personnel.
• Metrics & Defect Tracking: Demonstrated ability to learn technical systems, capture detailed test metrics, log defects, perform root-cause analysis, and execute end-to-end integration and regression test cycles.
• Gate Reviews & Technical Skills: Hands-on experience participating in Software Gate Reviews and Qualification Test Evaluation (QTE).
• Collaboration Tools: Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence.
• Domain Expertise: Technical experience with Electronic Security Systems (ESS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access Control Systems (ACS), or closely related platforms.
