Position Type: Full-Time, Contract (6-Month Base with 6-Month Extension Option)

Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated, certified Sonographers and Nuclear Medicine Technologists to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services for the Syracuse VAMC Healthcare System. In this role, you will work alongside a compassionate team of federal healthcare providers, ensuring our veterans receive the precise diagnostic care they deserve.

Certified Sonographer (Ultrasound Technologist)

• Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, small parts, and vascular studies.
• Position patients properly, adjust equipment settings, and optimize image quality.
• Prepare preliminary diagnostic reports for review by staff radiologists.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

• Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for imaging and therapeutic purposes.
• Operate advanced gamma cameras and imaging equipment to capture diagnostic scans.
• Maintain strict radiation safety and quality control standards in accordance with federal regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen(required for VA security clearance).
• Certifications (Sonographer): Active registration through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-S).
• Certifications (Nuclear Medicine): Active registration through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or ARRT(N).
• Life Support: Current, active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in an acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Background Check: Ability to pass a federal background check, fingerprinting, and VA IT Security compliance screening.

Hours & Schedule

• Standard healthcare shifts (typically Monday through Friday, daytime hours).
• Exact shift details, rotational schedules, or potential on-call requirements will be finalized during the interview process based on hospital department needs.
