Job Description

Duties

As an IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN), GS-2210-11, you will perform studies and independently establish plans for improving the efficiency of information technology and communications processes. Interpret a variety of technical requirements making independent judgments to determine organizational compliance with applicable instructions, procedures and practices. Evaluate mission effectiveness, using standardized and locally developed evaluation programs and processes. Advise supervisors and managers on the evaluation of programs, policies, regulatory requirements, and procedures. Develop process, management, administrative and technical evaluation plans for implementation. Recommend internal reporting and status tracking procedures to ensure adequate control in terms of deadlines, progress reports, and follow-up reports. Prepare and maintain files and publications IAW current directives to include both paper and electronic media. Coordinate with HHQ elements, Program Management Offices, Specific System/Hardware Support Elements, OEM Vendors and Vendor Contracted support facilities for issue resolution. Develop, implement and maintain work center training programs. Adhere to management control plan requirements by conducting self inspection and staff assistance visits. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Conducts travel to and from offsite worksite(s) from the normal work area to perform assigned duties. This may include Operating Locations (OL) and/or GSU. Due to distances involved, travel may involve one or more overnight stays.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a security clearance of (Top Secret).
  • Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Applicant must complete a baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Applicant must have active CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the Tennessee National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the military grade(s) specified in the qualifications section of this announcement.
Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 (SRA) through E-5 (SSgt)

Compatible Military Assignment: AFSC - 1D7X1

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must have experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have at least 36 months or 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Specialized experience includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies which involves summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
