Major Duties and Responsibilities


Performs maintenance and repair of Embassy standby electrical system, motor connections and controls and electrical service and low and medium voltage distribution under supervision of the Electrical Foreman.


May be responsible for providing work direction to electricians in operation, maintenance, and repair projects.


Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Performs or leads the repair and maintenance of emergency power supply system equipment, automatic starting system, automatic power transfer switches, operational control and alarm system service.

  • Performs or leads the repair and maintenance of distribution systems including main and distribution switchboards, panelboard fuses and transformers motor connections and controls including starters and motor control centers.



Performs or leads the repair of lighting including incandescent, fluorescent, recessed, surface, weatherproof vapor tight and underwater switches dimmers;


  • Back up for repair and maintenance of fire alarm systems including pull station, ionization smoke detectors, sprinkler flow switches, supervisory valve and control panels.

  • Performs or leads preventive maintenance (PM) in accordance with schedules, operating procedures and equipment warranty.

  • Performs or leads repair of components such as rectifiers, inverters, associated generating and distribution equipment.

  • Conducts tests of equipment using voltmeters, ampmeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges, frequency counters and other test equipment.

  • Adjusts components to ensure optimum operating efficiency.

  • Analyzes malfunctions in electrical standby power systems, distribution systems, motor connections and controls by visual and auditory inspection and makes necessary adjustments and repairs.

  • Maintains records of all work accomplished and parts used.

  • Complies with all related published directives, work standards, and technical publications.

  • Performs a variety of routine electrical maintenance and repair functions as required, as well as performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications Licensed master electrician with minimum seven years’ experience in maintenance of electrical equipment to include generator, dynamo, switchgear, distribution system, and general building electrical maintenance and repair.At least three years of the experience must have been as a Master Electrician. The experience must have included working from sketches, drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers’ operations and maintenance manuals. Training and experience with both low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and equipment is required.

    Must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to produce employee evaluations and


    written reports for upper management and to brief upper management on project status.


    Must be 21 years of age; completed secondary school or obtained a GED.


    A valid driver’s license and must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance.
