Position Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: San Diego, California
Clearance Requirements: Active Secret clearance required
Position Status: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $135-152K
Position Description:
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide engineering and operational support for a physical Combined Test Bed (CTB) network environment in support of a federal defense program. This is a 100% onsite role requiring deep technical expertise across network architecture, routing, switching, cloud connectivity, and security frameworks.
In this role, you will own day-to-day network operations and engineering for a mission-critical environment, including hardware and software installation, firmware upgrades, STIG compliance, and performance optimization for routers and switches. You will monitor and analyze network performance at the physical and IP packet levels using enterprise tools including inMON Traffic Sentinel and Zabbix, and provide on-call support with a requirement to be on-site within two hours of notification.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Establishing and maintaining connectivity to multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure), managing IP space, VLANs, route tables, VPCs, and virtual gateways
• Building and executing network infrastructure test environments, including test case reviews, assessments, and results reporting
• Maintaining a corrective action system to track and resolve issues, coordinating with vendors and conducting regression testing
• Prototyping, installing, and managing configurations for routing, distribution, firewall, and boundary routing infrastructure with a focus on HPE Aruba and Palo Alto systems
• Configuring and troubleshooting internal and external routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and secure tunneling mechanisms (IPsec)
• Implementing and managing Network Access Control (NAC) systems including Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, 802.1x Authentication, and Zero-Trust architectures such as dynamic segmentation
Required Skills/Education:
• Active Secret clearance
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 10 or more years of relevant network engineering experience
• IAT Level II certification: (one of the following) Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, SCNP, or SSCP
• Cisco certification: (one of the following) CCNA, CCNP, or CCDP
• Demonstrated experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), IPsec, VLANs, and multi-cloud network connectivity
• Ability to respond on-site within two hours for after-hours network outages
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with inMON Traffic Sentinel and Zabbix for network monitoring and analysis
• Proficiency with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager and NAC solutions
• Experience implementing Zero-Trust network architectures and dynamic segmentation
• Familiarity with HPE Aruba networking platforms
