PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a skilled Harness Technician C to support the fabrication and assembly of critical spacecraft hardware in El Segundo, California. In this role, you'll work directly with high-reliability spaceflight hardware, translating engineering designs into mission-ready systems. Your craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to quality will directly contribute to the success of space missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate wiring harnesses for spacecraft and ground support systems.
- Build and terminate wiring harnesses for racks, boxes, and spacecraft installations.
- Perform complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and electronic systems.
- Follow assembly procedures and provide technical guidance to co-workers when needed.
- Work closely with team leaders to ensure project milestones and schedules are met.
- Communicate anticipated production challenges to supervisors and leadership.
- Cross-train and mentor new team members.
- Maintain compliance with safety requirements, tool control practices, FOD prevention standards, and housekeeping procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum 4 years of technician experience in aerospace or a comparable high-reliability industry.
- Certification to J-STD-001 Space and NASA-STD-8739.4.
- Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Experience using hand tools and troubleshooting or repairing electronic components.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Schematics
- Harness wiring diagrams
- Mechanical drawings
- Circuit layouts
- Parts lists
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
- Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Ability to use computer applications for work documentation and tracking.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must successfully pass a soldering and crimping test.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification highly desired.
- Experience performing in-process verification (2PV).
- 4+ years of experience using wire harness tools, including manual and pneumatic crimpers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
