At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Junior Industrial Security Officer, a typical day will include the following duties:
Supports the day-to-day operations and administration of GCI’s physical security program. This role focuses on managing security vendors, coordinating maintenance and service of electronic security systems, administering access control processes, and developing and maintaining policies and procedures that support a secure environment.
Working under the direction of security leadership, this position serves as a liaison between internal stakeholders, facilities, IT, and third-party security providers to ensure security systems operate efficiently and comply with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities
Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with physical security vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and system upgrades for security technologies
- Monitor vendor performance against service level agreements and contractual obligations
- Review service reports, invoices, and maintenance records for accuracy
- Coordinate onsite vendor access and ensure compliance with organizational security requirements
Alarm Systems Administration
- Coordinate maintenance and testing of intrusion detection and alarm monitoring systems
- Track alarm system issues through resolution
- Ensure alarm devices remain operational through routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Partner with monitoring centers and vendors to investigate recurring alarm issues
- Maintain documentation of system configurations and maintenance history
Access Control Administration
- Support administration of enterprise access control systems
- Conduct routine audits of access permissions to ensure compliance with organizational policies
- Assist with troubleshooting access control hardware and software issues
- Coordinate installation and maintenance of card readers, controllers, and related hardware
Policies and Procedures
- Assist in the development and review of policies, standards, and standard operating procedures related to:
- Access control
- Alarm management
- Vendor management
- Electronic security systems
- Security maintenance processes
- Recommend process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and security compliance
- Ensure documentation remains current with organizational and regulatory requirements
Operational Support
- Assist with physical security projects and system implementations
- Maintain accurate security records, inventories and reporting metrics
- Participate in after-hours support routine maintenance and critical security incidents as needed.
Minimum Qualification
- 2-5 years of experience in physical security operations, facilities security, or electronic security systems.
- Experience working with third-party vendors and service providers
- Familiarity with electronic access control and intrusion detection systems
- Experience writing or maintaining policies, procedures, and operational documentation
- Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of physical security principles and best practices
- Ability to manage multiple vendors and competing priorities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written communication skills with ability to develop/maintain policies and procedures
- Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive security information
