What You’ll Do:
As the Training Systems Engineer, you will provide technical and systems-engineering support to the F/A-18 Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) within NAVAIR’s Naval Aviation Training Systems and Ranges Program Office (PMA-205). This position will help identify technical risks, improve system performance, and ensure hardware and software solutions satisfy program requirements, configuration controls, and cybersecurity standards.

What You’ll Do:

This position will help identify technical risks, improve system performance, and ensure hardware and software solutions satisfy program requirements, configuration controls, and cybersecurity standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate technology, refresh requirements and provide technical recommendations for computing hardware, including processing units, graphics cards, memory, storage, and related components.
- Analyze hardware alternatives for performance, compatibility, cybersecurity, lifecycle support, availability, and cost.
- Plan, organize, and lead Technical Interchange Meetings with government, contractor, engineering, cybersecurity, and program stakeholders.
- Attend design reviews and identify technical barriers, integration concerns, dependencies, and risks that could affect proposed solutions.
- Participate in software installations to verify that installations are performed efficiently, system loads are properly implemented, and configurations comply with approved technical documentation.
- Attend and support Acceptance Test Procedures and other system verification and validation events.
- Review Boeing CDD documentation for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with program requirements.
- Assist the IPTL in developing and implementing effective Configuration Management solutions.
- Support Risk Management Framework activities and help identify solutions that satisfy operational requirements while maintaining cybersecurity compliance.
- Coordinate with hardware, software, network, cybersecurity, test, and configuration-management personnel to resolve technical issues.
- Document technical recommendations, risks, decisions, action items, and proposed solutions for Government review.
- Monitor technical issues through resolution and communicate schedule, cost, performance, or cybersecurity impacts to program leadership.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or related technical discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- At least 6 years of experience supporting complex hardware and software systems in a DoD or similarly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate computer hardware and make technically sound refresh or replacement recommendations.
- Experience participating in technical reviews, design reviews, software installations, testing, and system acceptance activities.
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements analysis, integration, verification, and validation.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, installation procedures, test documentation, and configuration records.
- Familiarity with Configuration Management processes, including configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and verification.
- Working knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and its relationship to system design, configuration, and software implementation.
- Ability to identify technical risks and clearly communicate recommendations to engineers, program managers, contractors, and government leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience supporting F/A-18 aircraft, mission systems, training systems, or associated simulation environments.
- Experience working with a Navy IPT, IPTL, program office, warfare center, or fleet-support organization.
- Familiarity with Boeing engineering, configuration, or CDD documentation.
- Experience with software baselines, technical data packages, Acceptance Test Procedures, and discrepancy resolution.

- This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Salary Range:
- The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $145,000 - $160,000, commensurate with an individual’s experience, qualifications, and skill set. ASEC is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation.
