Job Description

AWS Cloud Architect
Program Overview
TEKsystems is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect to design, lead, and govern enterprise cloud architecture supporting mission-critical federal programs. This role defines the target-state cloud architecture across AWS (primary) and Azure (secondary), ensuring solutions meet FedRAMP Moderate security and compliance requirements. The Cloud Architect serves as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for cloud design decisions, partnering closely with Cloud Computing, Application Development, Data Science, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity Engineering teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Systems Design: Design and document scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures (blueprints, diagrams, and strategies) on AWS, with secondary integration and support for Azure workloads.
• Compliant Architecture: Develop and implement reference architectures and design patterns aligned to FedRAMP Moderate control baselines (NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171).
• Migration & Modernization: Lead cloud migration and modernization strategy, including workload assessment, right-sizing, and cost optimization.
• Cost & Performance Optimization: Evaluate and recommend cloud-native and hybrid solutions that balance performance, cost, and compliance.
• ATO & System Security Plans: Lead technical gap analysis, partner with the cloud security team, execute automated control mapping, and support development and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSPs), architecture diagrams, and other ATO documentation.
• Automation (IaC): Develop and implement reusable Infrastructure as Code templates using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to ensure continuous compliance and rapid deployment.
• DevSecOps Integration: Configure secure CI/CD pipelines, monitoring solutions, and containerization using tools such as Azure DevOps and AWS-native services (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy) and other security tooling.
• Identity & Data Protection: Architect secure identity access boundaries, multi-factor authentication, single sign-on (SSO), network firewalls, and encryption schemas for data at rest and in transit.
• SRE & Disaster Recovery: Build site reliability engineering (SRE) practices and disaster recovery solutions.
• Technical Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers.
