Position Overview
SDA Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer, Data & DevSecOps to support a mission-critical Department of Defense program in Arlington, Virginia. This technical leadership role is responsible for guiding software engineering teams while driving database modernization, DevSecOps initiatives, cloud adoption, and enterprise application development supporting secure DISA environments.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience leading Agile software development teams, designing modern enterprise architectures, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and delivering scalable, secure software solutions across complex government environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead software engineering teams in the design, development, and delivery of secure enterprise applications.
Architect and modernize enterprise database solutions supporting cloud migration and hybrid environments.
Translate mission objectives and product backlog priorities into technical roadmaps and sprint deliverables.
Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure database architectures.
Lead development of secure APIs, data integration solutions, and enterprise data pipelines.
Develop and maintain DevSecOps pipelines utilizing GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, and related automation tools.
Implement CI/CD processes, automated testing, security controls, observability, and release management best practices.
Establish engineering standards, software development governance, and technical best practices across development teams.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to senior engineers and development teams.
Collaborate with program leadership, product owners, and stakeholders to align technical strategy with mission objectives.
Support Agile software development processes, sprint planning, release management, and Jira-based project tracking.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and engineering artifacts.
Support troubleshooting, modernization initiatives, and Tier III technical escalations for enterprise software environments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise software engineering, database modernization, DevSecOps, or cloud technologies.
Proven experience leading multiple software engineering teams delivering complex enterprise solutions.
Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Java, cloud technologies, DevSecOps, automated testing, database engineering, or enterprise data integration.
Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
Experience with Java, JavaScript, GitLab, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Terraform, Ansible, YAML, PowerShell, Gradle, Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Oracle 19c, and related enterprise technologies.
Experience supporting the full software development lifecycle within Agile development environments.
Experience with release management, software configuration management, and production deployments.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience supporting high-tempo, mission-critical enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting DISA or other Department of Defense enterprise programs.
Experience leading database modernization, cloud migration, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical enterprise systems.
Experience establishing engineering standards, governance, and technical best practices across large development organizations.
