As a Facility Management Specialist at the NH-1640-3 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Plans and executes installation/site services and support functions for DMEA foundry and laboratory operations, to include infrastructure planning, facilitization, maintenance, and integration of structural, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Interfaces with internal and external customers concerning foundry and laboratory operations services and support requirements, as well as with contractors. Assures that all services and support provided are responsive and adequate to the needs of the customer. Analyzes issues related to services and support provided and develops/implements solutions in an efficient and effective manner.
- Manages all GSA leased space projects, including managing DMEA maintenance program for laboratories, office spaces, foundry's, gym facilities, or other special-purpose facilities; plans maintenance activities and develops preventive maintenance programs.
- Conducts surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors, including reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and overseeing operations for conformance with project plans.
- Performs maintenance and/or construction work, including estimating material and labor costs for a variety of construction or maintenance projects (such as construction or maintenance of brick, frame, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and other type structures ranging from one- or two-story buildings to larger structures), directing actual work operations, and maintaining appropriate contacts with the GSA, OGC (office of General Counsel), Contracting, Finance or any other offices involved with the project.
- Serves as the technical representative for contracts in support of various facilities operations.
- Serves as a member of the DMEA Emergency Response Team to respond to after-hours emergencies impacting the facility and associated Environmental Health and Safety compliance systems.
- Keeps management informed of operational issues, needs and proposed solutions through development of point papers, e-mails and/or briefings.
- Analyzes equipment specifications, materials, and prepare results, formulates conclusions, and presents recommendations to effectively serve as the subject matter expert on all things concerning the facility, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Oversees all agency related logistics requirements to include office relocations, movements of furniture and supplies to proactively identify potential space utilization deficiencies.
- Uses Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), building automation equipment, and software to include the full Microsoft Office suite and the use of electronic forms, to include reviewing and checking multiple design aspects as drawings, specifications, quantities, costs, accuracy, completeness and conformity with requirements of the mission.
