Job Description

Duties

  • You will identify efficiencies and make recommendations to streamline the development of and delivery of primary prevention science perspectives in prevention planning.
  • You will contribute to CNIFR, CNRF HQ, OPNA V and DOD prevention reporting requirements through submission of relevant and requested data/information.
  • You will assist with oversight aspects of the Integrated Primary Prevention Program for commands/units within AOR.
  • You will identify existing or potential risk and protective factors that could lead to problematic/destructive behaviors and recommend preventive measures that the command or unit can take to address risk and protective factors.
  • You will assist with the development, planning and execution of core functions of an optimized prevention system.

  • You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience applying knowledge of the social sciences as related to integrated prevention programs in order to evaluate, consult, advise in a variety of settings, thereby promoting a healthy and resilient climate toward the prevention of destructive/problematic behaviors to include but not limited to, suicide, sexual harassment/assault, substance misuse, family/interpersonal/workplace violence.
  • Experience applying knowledge of prevention programs and practices.
  • Experience communicating sufficiently to plan, organize, and implement prevention activities.
  • Experience providing skills in prevention training/education to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience applying professional written communication methods and techniques, and skill incusing various automated systems and software to collect and organize data from databases; and compose clear and concise written reports and material.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Work is performed in normal office settings, classrooms, and shipboard or waterfront environments. Incumbent must comply with safety standards identified in the various work environments such as safety equipment, safety shoes, hardhat, eye and hearing protection, etc.

Incumbent's work of the position is primarily sedentary. Attendance at meetings involves either walking or driving to and from various buildings. Occasional lifting up to 20lbs may be required. Incumbent may be required to conduct business in a shipboard environment as well as a shore-based office.

As a position of trust and an IT II position, employment is conditional on the successful completion of an Access National Agency Check Investigation (ANACI) and contain no convictions of sexual assault and domestic violence. b. Position requires a Secret Security Clearance eligibility to be obtained and maintained.

Telework eligibility is based on RESFOR policies and where authorized by the incumbent's command.

Occasional travel up to approximately 35% may be required outside of the local area.

This position is subject to Initial credential requirement of DoD-approved Training DoD SP ARX Knowledge Training Parts 1 and 2. The incumbent is subject to annual renewal requirement for IPPW Level 4, Prevention Program Leader, of 30 hours approved continuing education annually.

In accordance with the Department of Defense Instruction DoDI 6400.117 DOD Integrated Primary Prevention Policy for Prevention Workforce and Leaders, issued 20DEC2022, this position is determined to meet the parameters of Integrated Primary Prevention Work. The designator for Prevention and Response Workforce is IPPW.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
