COOK

Duties

• You will follow the approved menu unless specific authorization has been granted for substitution or changes.
• You will evaluate cooked food items to determine whether they are done by their appearance, consistency, texture, and temperature.
• You will plan entire meals so that completed food products are ready on time and at the correct temperature.
• You will clean food service equipment to maintain quality standards for food preparation.

• You will be required to take an initial 4 hour Food Service Sanitation/Food Safety Training and refresher training annually.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• The incumbent must have a current Food Handlers Physical Examination Certificate, NAVMEDCLIN NORVA 6240/12, before starting work.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
