We are seeking an experienced Senior Pega Developer to design, configure, test, and sustain complex workflow capabilities for an enterprise Department of Veterans Affairs Pega Cloud modernization effort. The role works from approved architecture and detailed designs to deliver secure, reusable, accessible, and maintainable case-management functionality while supporting less-experienced developers and resolving complex defects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Design and implement complex Pega case types, stages, workflows, routing, service levels, rules, validations, calculations, and notifications.

·         Configure data types, data pages, integrations, user interfaces, reports, dashboards, security roles, and audit behavior within assigned features.

·         Apply architecture guardrails, configuration-first principles, reusable patterns, naming standards, version control, and documentation requirements.

·         Collaborate with architects, analysts, data/integration engineers, and testers to clarify requirements and resolve implementation dependencies.

·         Develop unit tests and support automated, functional, integration, accessibility, performance, and regression testing.

·         Perform peer reviews and provide practical guidance to other developers on Pega quality, maintainability, and troubleshooting.

·         Analyze and resolve complex defects involving workflows, rules, data, integrations, security, reports, or performance.

·         Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily coordination, demonstrations, retrospectives, and release-readiness activities.

·         Support deployment validation, production stabilization, incident analysis, and approved enhancements.

·         Maintain technical notes, configuration rationale, test evidence, and knowledge-transfer materials.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·         6+ years of software or enterprise application development experience, including 4+ years of hands-on Pega development experience.

·         Strong knowledge of Pega case management, workflows, rules, data pages, user interfaces, reports, security, and integrations.

·         Experience implementing complex business rules and role-based workflows in a configuration-first environment.

·         Experience with Pega guardrails, reusable components, unit testing, debugging, performance considerations, and deployment practices.

·         Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, data mapping, authentication, and integration error handling.

·         Experience collaborating in Agile teams and supporting test, release, and production activities.

·         Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical-documentation, and communication skills.

·         Ability to mentor or support other developers without requiring formal personnel-management responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

·         Pega Certified System Architect or Senior System Architect certification is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.

·         Experience with Pega Cloud, Deployment Manager, PegaUnit, Scenario Testing, or Pega Diagnostic Center.

·         Experience in Federal, financial, acquisition, health, or another regulated environment; direct VA experience is not required.

·         Familiarity with Section 508, FedRAMP, Zero Trust, AI-enabled workflow, or enterprise reporting.

EDUCATION:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CLEARANCE:

·        Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

WORK LOCATION:

·        Remote
