Program Overview

Peraton provides the customer with enterprise infrastructure support to plan, engineer, implement, enhance, maintain and operate the global consular affairs IT environment.

About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Technical Project Manager ("PM") to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) program. CAEIO provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting consular applications and services globally.

The PM will be a member of the CAEIO Portfolio Management Team, which oversees all project-related activities across the Enterprise Operations Division (EO). The PM will manage a large portfolio of projects, overseeing the work, artifacts, and technical decisions in collaboration with Government customers. Additionally, the PM will address the needs of a diverse team of operational engineers to achieve high standards in project management, tracking, and control.

Core Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, approximately 8:00 AM ET - 4:00 PM ET (flexible)

Work Location: This position is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area (DMV) to accommodate occasional onsite meetings, training, or customer support activities at the Washington, DC, customer location or the Peraton office in Sterling, VA. The number of days the consultant works on-site in Washington, DC, or Sterling, VA, is subject to change based on government/program requirements (for example, surge support might require the individual to be in the office five days per week).

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manage IT projects for the Department of State in coordination with customer managers.
  • Work closely with technical engineers to track work, identify and analyze risks, and strategize issue remediation.
  • Track, monitor, and manage hardware and software End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Support (EOS) lifecycles across the enterprise to prevent operational disruptions and security vulnerabilities.
  • Identify, document, and escalate risks associated with unsupported software, obsolete hardware, and legacy architecture; collaborate with security and engineering teams to establish interim mitigation controls.
  • Coordinate efforts of technical engineers to best use resources and accomplish program goals.
  • Lead resource management and risk management across the enterprise, identifying and preventing resource constraints and analyzing the results of system changes.
  • Act as Delivery Manager on Kanban teams, guiding technical resources through Kanban and Agile Product Management practices.
  • Develop comprehensive, executive-level reports that provide essential project information, such as risks, issues, impediments, and projected completion dates.
  • Develop and deliver executive level presentations to senior government executives. Liaise with program stakeholders such as development teams, security officers, and PMO.
  • Work with appropriate technical and management resources to plan and schedule project timelines and milestones.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project support.
  • Manage process improvement activities in non-technical program areas.
  • Develop and deliver executive level presentations to senior government executives.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of experience or an Associates degree and 10 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 12 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working as a technical Project Manager, on Federal contracts a plus.
  • Experience working in project management for software development, database management, infrastructure, or network environment projects.
  • Experience with project methodologies and associated tools (SDLC, Agile, Kanban, and Jira)
  • Solid experience with MS Office Suites.
  • Experience with knowledge sharing tools such as SharePoint and Confluence.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Agile and ITIL certifications.
  • Experience providing operational task support in a highly demanding environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise Architecture or Asset Management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Nessus, Remedy, or specialized CMDB tools) to track software/hardware baselines and end-of-support dates.
  • Experience managing hardware refresh cycles, software upgrade roadmaps, or system decommissioning projects within an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to apply industry standards and best practices for operational excellence.
  • PMI PMP

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
