Job Description

Duties

  • You will operate floating cranes and a variety of lattice and hydraulic booms, category 1 cranes with lifting capacities up to 150 ton and up to 300 feet of boom.
  • You will make precise load load placements to position the load accurately and safely under complex and adverse conditions.
  • You will lifts loads from water on logs, anchor buoys, boats, and canals.
  • You will perform duties including the proper handling, containment, and disposal of hazardous material.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current California Class "B" Commercial Driver's license.
  • You must be capable of qualifying for AMHAS certification for handling ammunition.
  • You must successfully complete the 40-hour crane safety course and an 8-hour refresher course every two years.
Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including:
1. Operating mobile, boom, or truck mounted cranes to lift and move loads where maneuverability is not a factor.
2. Executing simple lifts and maneuvers in accordance with commercially accepted safe rigging practices.
3. Working with a lifting team using standard hand signals for crane operations.
4. Performing operator inspections of cranes.

This position is being recruited for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) and may subsequently be realigned under the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC).
