Job Description

Duties

DUTY 1: Plans, organizes, and oversees the full complement of activities within the Force Support Squadron. Such complements could include but are not limited to Prime Ribs, Personnel/Human Resources, Education & Training, Airman, Family Readiness, Communications, Security Forces and, in some instances, Civil Engineering, etc.
DUTY 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
DUTY 3: Makes a periodic, comprehensive assessment and evaluation of program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the organization's management support capabilities.
DUTY 4: Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

  • This is a supervisory position. A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
  • Position is Centrally Managed, Centrally Funded PCS is authorized. Gaining unit will NOT pay PCS expenses for this position.
  • Incentive for prior work or active-duty experience to determine leave accrual may be authorized upon request.
Qualifications

THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION.
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at 442 MAINTENANCE SQ with the Military Rank: Lt Col/O-5, AFSC: 038F3

In order to qualify, you must meet the special experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent which includes the planning, directing, organizing, coordinating maintenance activities and funding of aircraft maintenance functions and comprehensive and detailed knowledge of aircraft maintenance functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 or above grade/ level or equivalent position in the federal service.

Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of manpower concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of personnel (civilian and military) concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; and practical knowledge of education, readiness, and budget execution concepts, principles, operations, and practices.
2. Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of medium to medium to large organizations to provide high level staff guidance and participate in the development of goals, objectives, and policies.
3. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to developing, planning, budgeting, and coordinating activities, programs, facility programming, contracting, and customer interests and needs.
4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Equal Opportunity (EO) and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. Skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objectives within available resources.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly and through subordinate supervisors

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Incumbent works under the direction of the Senior ART/Group Commander who delegates areas of responsibility and is available for consultation when controversies arise. Incumbent independently plans, organizes, and directs the work of the squadron to achieve organizational goals and objectives, meet customer needs, and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and higher headquarters policies and directives. Work is reviewed in terms of overall mission support and attainment of organizational goals.

Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:

1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA).
2. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
3. Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
4. The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
5. Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force wide mobility agreement.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
