Job Description

The Computer Engineer III provides senior analytical-modeling, functional-simulation, and computer-engineering expertise to NSWC Crane Code GXP and SSP. This Key Personnel position develops and integrates analytical models and real-time simulations that enable system-of-systems evaluation, requirements verification, design assessment, and informed technical decisions for Strategic Weapon System programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, integrate, test, and maintain analytical models, functional simulations, and real-time simulation capabilities using MATLAB, Simulink, and related engineering tools.

Integrate subsystem and functional models into system-of-systems simulation environments supporting SSP engineering, acquisition, verification, and modernization decisions.

Translate system requirements, interfaces, operational concepts, and engineering data into executable models and simulation architectures.

Plan and conduct model verification, validation, and accreditation activities; document assumptions, interfaces, limitations, test results, and configuration baselines.

Analyze outputs from simulation events, hardware-in-the-loop tests, software-in-the-loop tests, and other system-level test events to assess requirements satisfaction and technical performance.

Collaborate with systems engineers, modelers, software developers, NSWC Crane technical branches, SSP offices, and prime contractors to integrate current and future architecture models and simulations.

Research and apply new computer, software, networking, modeling, and simulation technologies to improve analytical fidelity, interoperability, automation, and repeatability.

Support configuration management and change control for source code, model files, interfaces, technical documentation, and released simulation products.

Prepare technical reports, briefings, model demonstrations, and recommendations for engineering reviews, working groups, and program decision forums.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science.

At least seven years of professional experience in computer design, software development, or computer networks.

Demonstrated experience developing analytical models and functional simulations using MATLAB, Simulink, and real-time simulation technologies.

Active U.S. Government Secret clearance at the time of award and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Ability to perform onsite at NSWC Crane and work effectively across engineering, software, test, and program stakeholder organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering.

Ten or more years of relevant professional experience.

Experience developing and integrating analytical models and functional simulations into a system-of-systems simulation environment.

Ship or submarine program experience, especially with Navy or SSP mission systems.
