Financial Intelligence Editor / Intelligence Publications Specialist
Pay Rate: $60-70/hr W2
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Intelligence Editor to support the review, refinement, and publication of analytical products within a national security environment. This role focuses on ensuring that written products meet established editorial standards, adhere to organizational style requirements, and effectively communicate complex information to senior decision-makers.
The ideal candidate has strong editing experience, exceptional command of grammar and writing conventions, and the ability to improve clarity, consistency, and readability while maintaining the integrity of analytical content.
Key Responsibilities
Review and edit intelligence, analytical, and research products for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and overall quality
Ensure written products comply with established style guides, formatting standards, and publication requirements
Verify factual consistency, accuracy, and proper citation of information within submitted materials
Recommend revisions that improve readability, organization, tone, and audience suitability
Format reports, briefings, assessments, and other deliverables according to established templates and standards
Collaborate with analysts, researchers, and subject matter experts to refine written products prior to publication
Perform quality reviews of high-visibility analytical products intended for leadership and decision-makers
Maintain consistency of language, terminology, and formatting across multiple product types
Support publication workflows, document reviews, and editorial quality control processes
Provide constructive editorial feedback and guidance to authors and contributors
Assist with development and maintenance of editorial standards, procedures, and style guidance
Mentor junior editors and support quality improvement initiatives across the team
Independently manage multiple concurrent review efforts while meeting deadlines
Required Qualifications
Experience reviewing and editing written products for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and style
Experience applying style guides and editorial standards to written products
Experience formatting reports, assessments, briefings, or publications using standardized templates
Ability to recommend revisions that improve readability, structure, tone, and audience engagement
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines
Active TS/SCI clearance
Education & Experience
One of the following combinations is required:
Associate’s degree with 4+ years of professional editing, publications, communications, or related experience
Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of professional editing, publications, communications, or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience editing intelligence, investigative, policy, national security, or analytical products
Familiarity with intelligence community writing standards and publication practices
Experience supporting government, defense, homeland security, or national security organizations
Knowledge of structured analytic writing techniques and editorial review processes
Experience reviewing products developed for executive-level audiences
Ability to quickly understand technical, analytical, or intelligence-related subject matter
