Information Technology Specialist (Sysadmin)

Duties

• Serves as the lead Project Manager for the entire lifecycle of pharmacy clinical applications, from implementation and integration to enhancement.
• Manages site preparations, develops comprehensive implementation plans, and acts as the primary technical liaison with vendors and cross-functional teams to resolve complex interoperability challenges.
• Provides comprehensive administration for the physical and virtual server environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and Storage Area Networks (SANs).
• Manages a portfolio of pharmacy-specific clinical systems (e.g., Genesis, Pyxis, Scriptpro), handling their deployment, lifecycle upgrades, and security patching to ensure maximum uptime.
• Architects and manages robust system security protocols to protect data. Ensures all clinical applications and infrastructure remain compliant with DoD and DHA cybersecurity directives to maintain their Authority to Operate (ATO).
• Acts as the definitive subject matter expert (SME) on all pharmacy IT systems.
• Provides expert-level technical support and troubleshooting for the hospital and associated branch clinics, and serves as the primary technical advisor to department leadership on system capabilities and new technologies.
• Performs high-level advisory duties by preparing and presenting project status briefings, technical analyses, and strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Develops and maintains technical guidance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all managed systems.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain IAT Level II certification by completing one of the commercial certifications as outlined in DODM 8140.03 within six (6) months of employment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security +CE or equivalent certification for IA Technical Level II (DOD 8570.01-M) within six (6) months of employment.
• This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
• This position may be required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• This position is designated "Mission Essential".
• In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning, designing, and carrying out projects and studies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational processes, 2) Assess new system proposals, 3) Design, develop, test, and debug software that integrates with current and future infrastructures, 4) Providing technical guidance on complex IT issues by serving as a subject matter expert to other specialists and user groups; and 5) Interpreting IT policies and precedents to develop new methods.
