Overview

VTG is seeking a Vice President within our Engineering Systems Business Unit. Engineering Systems support provides a wide range of technical services associated with key Naval Warfare priorities, including Strike Force Interoperability, Interior Communications Engineering, Test and Evaluation, Integrated Combat Systems Engineering and similar efforts. The candidate should have familiarity with the Department of the Navy Acquisition and Engineering Eco-System, ideally in the Maritime and Mission Systems portfolios.

As a Business Area Lead, the candidate will manage program delivery across all their portfolio. With direct oversight and engagement on engineering support services, this role is ideal for a proactive professional looking to accelerate their career. Key responsibilities include ensuring programs meet approved cost, schedule and performance, as well as leading recompete efforts and capture pursuits. As a supervisor, the candidate will also manage the performance management cycle-from setting goals and providing ongoing mentoring to driving team leadership and accountability. This is a hybrid role at our Washington, DC office.

What will you do?

  • Successful contract performance. Lead day-to-day operations and delivery across all programs within the assigned business area, resulting in the completion of multiple technical tasks in assigned programs.
  • Manage business area resources, including on-site and off-site personnel, to ensure programs meet approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for formulating and enforcing work standards, assigning contractor schedules, reviewing work discrepancies, supervising contractor personnel and communicating policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to subordinates.
  • Identify, shape and develop potential business opportunities including- capture plans and proposal strategies and competitor analysis; assist in the development and review of key proposals and support the proposal development process.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program, financial, operational, and customer-related risks.
  • Responsible for program revenue and margin performance, including labor and expense management to achieve business objectives.
  • Support forecasting, manage Estimates at Completion, and implement corrective actions when performance varies from plan.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, serving as a senior point of contact with client leadership.
  • Partner with Human Resources and functional leaders on staffing, retention, talent development, and workforce planning.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, contractual requirements, company policies, and other applicable regulations.
  • Implement company strategy while providing insight into customer priorities, competitor activity, market dynamics, and capability gaps.

Do you have what it takes?

Required Skills:
  • Candidate should have at least 15+ years (preferred) in program/project management, of which 10+ years should be in support of Department of Defense/Navy Programs in program management, Government technical management or industry business management.
  • BS/BA (Masters preferred) degree in Engineering or Business Management discipline.
  • PMP (or equivalent) Certification.
  • Supervisory experience; experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel
  • Must have and maintain an active DOD Secret Clearance or eligibility to gain a clearance.
  • Specialized experience with DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); Naval Science and Technology (S&T) Strategies and Future Naval Capabilities (FNC) programs; Foreign Military Sales


Preferred Skills:
  • Understand professional service contracting and government acquisition lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, analyze data and make informed decisions or recommendations, and have a very good work ethic.
  • Contract Management Experience; demonstrated ability to serve as the authorized interface with the Government Contracting Officer (CO), the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), government management personnel and customer agency representatives.


VTG's estimated starting pay range is $185,000-$205,000 which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
