Position Responsibilities:
- Perform intricate mechanical and electromechanical assembly of prototypes, including component placement, fastening, wiring, and torquing to specifications.
- Apply adhesives, epoxies, Loctite, greases, and other materials according to engineering documentation and quality standards.
- Construct and modify cable and harness assemblies, including crimping, connectorization, labeling, and routing.
- Perform continuity testing, basic electrical checks, and assist with advanced testing of cables, harnesses, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs).
- Handle and assemble circuit card assemblies (CCAs) while following ESD procedures.
- Maintain accurate assembly, test, and modification records using engineering documentation, logs, and databases.
- Assist engineers in troubleshooting assembly and test issues.
- Support inventory management, component tracking, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with ordering components and materials, including generating purchase requests when needed.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and support staff to meet project objectives.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly techniques using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Experience using torque wrenches and applying thread locking compounds (Loctite).
- Experience handling and mixing epoxies and other adhesives.
- Familiarity with ESD and FOD control procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cable and harness assembly, connectorization, and routing.
- Experience performing continuity testing and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience handling and assembling circuit card assemblies (CCAs).
- Experience with material management systems and purchasing processes.
- IPC certification for soldering and/or harnessing.
Education / Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is a plus.
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a technical laboratory, manufacturing, or prototype environment.
