Job Summary

The Production Supervisor I provides daily supervision of employees engaged in the manufacturing of Sparton products. Coordinates the activities within the manufacturing environment to ensure that delivery, cost, and quality goals are met and/or exceeded. Champion continuous improvement activities such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen within manufacturing.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Provides direct supervision to manufacturing employees.

• Plans, assigns, and adjusts work priorities to meet daily, weekly, monthly customer sales order requirements.

• Monitors and manages employee job performance such as attendance, quality, and productivity.

• Ensures that all manufacturing employees are properly trained and cross-trained as required.

• Prepares reports and makes presentations as required.

• Holds and attends meetings as required.

• Monitor line-processing procedures to and from Configuration Management Office (CMO).

• Monitors equipment for proper maintenance and operation.

• Encourages and participates in continuous improvement activities such Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

• Ensures that all processes and procedures are performed as written, and obtains deviations as required.

• Primary interface with all support functions such as quality, engineering, materials, and production control.

Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications

• 2-year degree from an accredited university OR a combination of education and relevant experience

• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 1 year supervising a team.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment

• Excellent people skills: ability to motivate, manage, and engage people

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams

• U.S. Citizenship is required

Supervisory Responsibilities: 30-40 direct reports

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and communicate, use hands/finger, feel, and reach with arms.  This position requires the ability to lift, bend or stoop as necessary up to 50lbs.
