The Mission Operations Department supports national intelligence mission centers by strengthening analytic capabilities, mission integration, and enterprise collaboration across complex national security challenges. The department partners closely with Intelligence Community sponsors to provide objective technical expertise, operational insight, and analytic leadership that improve mission outcomes. It delivers the data, analytic, and mission expertise required to help government partners address evolving counterterrorism challenges and advance national security objectives.
Position Summary:
MITRE's National Intelligence Division is seeking a Lead Counterterrorism Mission Data Analytics Expert to provide senior-level analytic leadership supporting an Intelligence Community sponsor focused on global counterterrorism missions. This role will be embedded on-site with the sponsor in McLean, Virginia, and will support senior government leaders by leading complex data-driven analytic efforts, optimizing mission workflows, improving enterprise data utilization, and advancing mission capabilities across counterterrorism, identity intelligence, watchlisting, and threat warning.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in Intelligence Community data analytics, enterprise data integration, and mission-focused analytic tradecraft. This individual will be expected to operate with exceptional judgment, technical credibility, and independence; leverage large, complex intelligence data holdings, enterprise analytic environments, and mission data ecosystems to improve mission performance; translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations; and serve as a trusted advisor influencing sponsor priorities, analytic methodologies, and enterprise data strategies.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of MITRE's role as an objective technical advisor and FFRDC, enabling them to bridge sponsor mission needs with MITRE's systems engineering, analytic, and technical capabilities. The role includes routine engagement and briefings with SES-level government leaders and requires approximately 80-100% on-site support in McLean, Virginia.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead data analytics advisor supporting sponsor priorities across global counterterrorism, identity intelligence, watchlisting, threat warning, and related mission areas.
- Lead efforts to optimize enterprise data workflows, improve data integration, and enhance analytic processes supporting counterterrorism missions.
- Assess sponsor data environments and recommend improvements to data architectures, analytic workflows, and mission processes that increase operational effectiveness.
- Leverage large, complex intelligence data holdings and enterprise analytic environments to develop actionable insights supporting senior government decision-makers.
- Advise SES-level government leaders on data strategies, analytic methodologies, enterprise data management, and mission performance improvements.
- Coordinate across government, MITRE, and contractor teams to improve data interoperability, align analytic efforts, and deliver integrated mission solutions.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate advanced analytic methods, automation, and emerging technologies, including AI where appropriate, to improve mission effectiveness.
- Mentor MITRE staff and provide technical leadership in mission data analytics, contributing to analytic rigor, innovation, and sponsor impact.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or 3 years with a PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Significant experience supporting Intelligence Community or national security counterterrorism missions through data analytics, intelligence analysis, or mission data integration.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging large, complex intelligence data holdings, enterprise analytic environments, and mission data ecosystems to support national security decision-making.
- Experience improving data analytic workflows, optimizing mission processes, and recommending enterprise data or analytic improvements.
- Strong understanding of Intelligence Community analytic tradecraft, enterprise data integration, and mission-focused analytics.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and briefing SES-level or equivalent senior government leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical and mission issues into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong understanding of MITRE's role as an FFRDC and ability to integrate MITRE capabilities into sponsor mission solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex, classified, matrixed, and fast-paced sponsor environment.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements for a clearance, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting Intelligence Community counterterrorism, identity intelligence, watchlisting, or threat warning missions.
- Experience improving enterprise data strategies, mission workflows, and data governance within classified environments.
- Experience integrating diverse intelligence data sources to improve mission outcomes.
- Experience advising senior government leaders on enterprise data strategy and mission modernization.
- Experience incorporating advanced analytics, automation, or AI-enabled approaches into mission workflows.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with senior sponsors and operate with discretion, sound judgment, and minimal direction.
