Release Manager
Location: Remote
Description: Seeking a highly motivated Release Manager for a Veterans Health Administration Finance DevSecOps Team to drive release execution to ensure readiness for CCB milestones. Manage Agile workflows and leverage tracking tools such as GitHub and JIRA to synchronize capability releases across all environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software's development and delivery process
• Responsible for the Release Management lifecycle that involves the stages such as scheduling the release, coordinating between teams, and deployment of release as per the schedule and within budget
• Serve as primary release liaison to ensure proper coordination between Scrum and DevSecOps teams as well as government stakeholders to update the project-related information
• Develop processes to ensure release packages include required artifacts (test results, security scans, documentation, CPs) before moving to CCB review.
• Define the strategic usage of release management tools to manage the revenue for the release
• Build and manage JIRA workflows, boards, dashboards, filters, and automation rules tailored to release operations and Agile governance.
• Responsible for tracking, documenting, and supporting the preparation and submission of change orders in ServiceNow for release deployments.
Required Skills:
• Direct experience as a Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, or Agile Program Manager supporting SAFe or scaled Agile environments.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and administering JIRA workflows, boards, dashboards, automation rules, and user permissions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-team Agile planning, risk management, and release readiness in complex technical programs.
• Experience managing release objectives, feature readiness, risks, and dependencies tied to releases.
• Build processes to ensure release packages include required artifacts (test results, security scans, documentation, CPs) before moving to CCB review.
• Communicate the project-related tasks such as plans, timelines, requirements, etc. between different teams.
• Coordinate the release schedule and resources required depending upon the third-party applications, defect backlogs, planned releases, and infrastructure updates.
• Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected.
• Track the progress and find issues, if any. Always work to improve the process of release.
• Make sure that the release is planned, according to the requirements and budget.
• Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
• Ability to create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule.
• Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities
• Make sure the allocation of Release Engineers to every release.
• Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully.
• Team up with relevant development Scrum teams responsible for building the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software.
• Discuss the release schedules with the team and find roadblocks, if any.
• Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists, and dependencies.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience) and eight (8)+ years of experience in software development
• 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
