Job Description

Duties

  • You will serve as the senior civilian financial manager and the advisor to the military G-8 Comptroller.
  • You will monitor and advises Comptroller on available funds identified, controlled and recorded in the official accounting records from the time received until liquidated or canceled.
  • You will monitor and advises Comptroller on available funds identified with authorized purposes by account and period of availability for new obligation and expenditure of funds are identified and documented.
  • You will provide supervision, direction, oversight and assignment of workload in the day-to-day operations of the Budget and Execution, Accounting, Travel Support, and Resource Evaluation and Analysis/Operations Branches.
  • You will monitor and advises Comptroller on activities within the Resource, Evaluation, Analysis and Operations Branch.
  • You will exercise authority and performs the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties including work planning, assignment, and review; establishing and reviewing performance standards and evaluations of subordinates.
  • You will understand and actively supporting the Command's Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program.
  • You will evaluate division policies/procedures to ensure EEO principles are reflected in all aspects of personnel management for current employees and applicants for employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level III certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing the operational, strategic, and planned resources for an organization; establishing and directing an organization's integrated system for financial management; coordinating the implementation of the budget and financial management for formal training programs; and analyzing all major financial advisory/management and operational aspects of programs.

Additional information

Overtime and shift work may be required in addition to frequent temporary additional duty (TAD) trips to common locations in CONUS as well as foreign countries.
