To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service which includes: coordinating medical readiness and/or operational support activities between organizations; analyzing operational information to identify issues to develop recommendations for leadership; preparing reports, briefings, or written responses regarding organizational issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
Additional information
- Act as the primary expert for the Defense Health Agency within the Combatant Command and ensure that medical support, programs, and capabilities are properly aligned with the command's needs.
- Bring together medical operations, logistics, training, research, and information systems so they work smoothly and effectively in support of the command.
- Observe ongoing operations, identify issues that may affect medical readiness, and provide timely updates and recommendations to senior leaders within the Defense Health Agency.
- Review and interpret policies and plans, explain how they affect operations, and offer expert guidance to leaders within both the Defense Health Agency and the Combatant Command.
- Review data, reports, and operational details to identify problems, evaluate impacts, and develop strategies that improve support to the command.
- Work closely with senior officials from the Defense Health Agency, the Combatant Command, and other national-level organizations to ensure alignment, resolve issues, and support mission requirements.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A comprehensive background investigation is required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position may require the incumbent to complete a one year supervisory probationary period.
