Title: Lead Solutions Architect
Location: Remote / Hybrid (On site-visits to the DMV location as required by contract)

About this position:
The Lead Solutions Architect provides enterprise-level technical leadership for the Decennial Transformation and Application Modernization (DTAM) initiative supporting the U.S. Census Bureau's 2030 Census program.
This role is responsible for defining and governing enterprise solution architecture across application, cloud, data, security, and operational domains. The Lead Solutions Architect ensures that technical solutions align with mission objectives, enterprise architecture standards, business capabilities, and modernization goals.
*This position is contingent upon contract award.
Salary Range: - $140K – $185K commensurate with the candidate's skills, experience, location, and qualifications.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Lead enterprise solution architecture activities supporting large-scale modernization initiatives.
- Define technical architectures that integrate applications, cloud platforms, data platforms, security capabilities, and operational environments.
- Translate mission and business capabilities into scalable technology solutions and architecture roadmaps.
- Establish solution architecture standards, governance processes, and technical decision frameworks.
- Collaborate with Lead Systems Architect, Lead Application Architect, Lead Data Architect, Lead Security Engineer, and engineering teams to ensure architectural alignment.
- Evaluate technology options, perform trade studies, and provide recommendations for enterprise modernization decisions.
- Develop and maintain architecture artifacts including solution designs, system integration models, technical roadmaps, and capability mappings.
- Support application modernization strategies including cloud migration, application transformation, integration patterns, and modernization approaches.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, security requirements, operational needs, and mission objectives.
- Support integration of DevSecOps practices across application delivery, cloud operations, and secure software development processes.
- Provide architectural oversight of application interfaces, APIs, integration patterns, and distributed systems.
- Participate in technical reviews, architecture boards, customer discussions, and senior leadership briefings.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across multiple engineering and architecture workstreams.
- Support Agile and DevSecOps delivery environments by ensuring architecture enables automation, continuous delivery, and operational readiness.
- Make technical recommendations and decisions impacting system implementation, integration, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
Required Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 15+ years of overall professional experience in IT, software engineering, or enterprise architecture
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale technology modernization initiatives.
- Experience designing and integrating complex systems across multiple technology domains including applications, cloud, data, security, and infrastructure.
- Experience establishing architecture standards, governance models, technical roadmaps, and solution strategies.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with senior technical leadership, government stakeholders, and enterprise architecture teams.
- Experience providing technical direction and leadership across multiple engineering teams or technical workstreams.
- Experience evaluating technologies, performing architecture assessments, and making enterprise-level technical recommendations.
- Experience supporting Agile, DevSecOps, and modern software delivery environments.
- Experience developing architecture documentation, technical designs, and solution implementation strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Certified Solutions Architect (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Professional)
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
- DevOps or DevSecOps-related certifications
- Experience supporting large-scale federal government modernization programs
- Experience with enterprise-scale cloud migration and transformation initiatives
- Strong background in Agile/Scaled Agile delivery environments
- Experience supporting data-centric, high-availability, or mission-critical systems
- Experience working in DevSecOps-driven environments supporting continuous delivery and automation
