Senior Software Engineer (Java/AWS) - Active Secret Clearance Required
📍 100% Remote | 6-Week Project | DoD Program Support
TEKsystems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support a critical Department of Defense program sustaining a command-and-control system for the Mobility Air Force. This is a 100% remote, 6-week project supporting a high-visibility effort as the program continues its migration to Amazon GovCloud and modern cloud-native deployment practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level developer with strong Java, AWS, and API development experience who enjoys working in an Agile environment and supporting mission-critical systems used by active-duty military personnel and civilian government users.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise software solutions while helping guide technical direction across the development team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, test, document, and deploy software solutions
- Build and maintain cloud-native applications within AWS environments
- Develop and integrate containerized APIs and services
- Participate in architecture, design, and planning discussions
- Review, refactor, and improve existing codebases
- Support and mentor junior developers
- Analyze system requirements and help prioritize development efforts
- Write clean, scalable, secure, and maintainable Java and C# code
- Support and optimize CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Evaluate and implement automated testing solutions
- Leverage tools such as Selenium, Cypress, and TestComplete for test automation
- Utilize code analysis and automated security scanning tools
- Improve development processes through automation and cloud-native best practices
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field and 8+ years of experience
OR 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Strong hands-on experience developing applications with Java
- Experience with AWS and cloud-native engineering principles
- Experience building and integrating containerized APIs and microservices
- Experience working in Agile software development environments
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and software lifecycle management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with C#
- Experience with React.js
- Experience supporting migrations to AWS GovCloud or similar cloud environments
- Automated testing experience using:
- Selenium
- Cypress
- SmartBear TestComplete
- Prior Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government program experience
- Experience with container technologies and modern deployment practices
