Next Generation Troposcatter (NGT) Systems Administrator / Cybersecurity Analyst
Location: Onsite, Camp Pendleton, CA
Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance Required
Certification: CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 IAT Level II) Required
Desired Certifications: Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, Cisco, or equivalent enterprise system administration certifications
In support of the United States Marine Corps Network Operations and Tactical Networks (TACNET) capability at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA), the NGT Systems Administrator provides technical support for the Next Generation Troposcatter (NGT) and Line of Sight Radio (LRS) communication systems. This position supports the Marine Corps Warfighter Support Division (WSD) by maintaining cybersecurity compliance, performing vulnerability management, and supporting the secure operation of tactical communication systems utilized by Fleet Marine Forces (FMF).
The NGT Systems Administrator will support the lifecycle management of tactical communications systems by conducting credentialed vulnerability assessments, implementing cybersecurity mitigations, maintaining secure software baselines, and ensuring systems remain compliant with Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements. Support is provided to Program Offices, Fleet Marine Forces, and operational units preparing for or conducting training, exercises, and contingency operations.
The NGT Systems Administrator role provides:
-Perform credentialed vulnerability scans against NGT and LRS hardware and software components.
-Analyze vulnerability scan results and implement approved mitigations in accordance with applicable IAVA/IAVM guidance.
-Configure, maintain, and secure Windows-based laptops supporting NGT systems.
-Create, maintain, and validate secure operating system images incorporating the latest approved security updates and mitigations.
-Publish validated software images to the WSD Software Repository for Fleet Marine Force use following successful IAVA testing.
-Develop documentation summarizing vulnerabilities, mitigations, residual risk, and recommended corrective actions.
-Support annual and quarterly cybersecurity sustainment activities for NGT and LRS systems.
-Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues affecting tactical communications systems.
-Coordinate with Government personnel, Program Offices, Information Assurance Managers (IAMs), and system engineers to maintain cybersecurity compliance.
-Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and change management artifacts.
-Interface with FMF personnel and Government civilians to provide responsive technical support in a fast-paced operational environment.
-Research technical issues utilizing technical manuals, STIGs, vendor documentation, IAVM notifications, and approved knowledge repositories.
-Identify cybersecurity issues requiring immediate attention and elevate risks through appropriate channels.
