Job Description
Position Description:
We are seeking a Technical Director who is passionate about leading teams and managing projects to solve challenging client problems with modern technology solutions. As a CGI Technical Director, you will join the International Affairs (IAF) group to support the mission of U.S. security, economic well being, and worldwide relations, while leading the technical modernization of multiple ERP systems for a cabinet level department. This is a rare opportunity to pair deep enterprise ERP experience with cutting edge modernization - containerization, cloud migration, automation, and AI - on systems that directly enable critical federal missions. Working with clients across the U.S. federal space, IAF supports missions that foster national security, foreign relations, and resilient democratic societies. Since 1976, CGI has partnered with the U.S. federal government to support a wide variety of organizations and unique missions, building solutions that serve clients around the world.
This position is located in Arlington, VA.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Inform and educate government clients on best practices for enterprise application modernization, including refactoring, containerization, and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA).
Lead technical architecture efforts by interfacing with feature and product teams to understand business needs, working alongside functional team members and client operations support administrators.
Lead technical teams through the architecture and development of system upgrades to containerize applications on an OpenShift platform, defining roadmaps and milestones for cloud migration of non production and production regions - including the design of underlying networking, monitoring, security, and role based access components.
Instill an automation first culture across technical work, driving greater automation of configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and deployment pipelines.
Identify, evaluate, and champion opportunities to apply AI and generative AI (e.g., code assistance, automated documentation, legacy code analysis, and intelligent testing) to accelerate modernization and reduce operations and maintenance (O&M) cost.
Establish standards and guardrails for the responsible, secure use of AI tools in a federal environment, ensuring alignment with client data handling, privacy, and security policies.
Guide teams in integrating AI/ML capabilities into ERP and enterprise workflows, from proof of concept through production, including model lifecycle, monitoring, and human in the loop review.
Apply strong problem solving skills to modernize technology solutions that directly impact client missions.
Demonstrate in depth technical capabilities, supporting multiple work streams and driving the assimilation of new techniques and solutions.
Follow technology trends across Cloud, DevOps, and AI to advise clients on how emerging capabilities can benefit their future development platform.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
An interim Secret clearance is required to begin working onsite with our client, and a Secret clearance must be maintained throughout the project duration. Due to the nature of the government contract and/or clearance requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline.
7+ years delivering large digital enterprise software products that address large scale challenges such as scalability, data volume, and performance.
7+ years working directly with clients while leading development and/or technical teams.
5+ years working with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, including containerization.
5+ years using Python, Ansible, Jenkins, or other automation tools to orchestrate technical activities, including installation and administration; experience designing, documenting, and developing CI/CD pipelines for complex applications.
Experience with government/NIST security requirements and accreditation processes.
Experience leading the design, documentation, and development of complex software applications, including technical architecture artifacts, security documentation, and requirements analysis.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
Project management skills including staffing, budgeting, deliverable/milestone planning, risk management, quality control, and status reporting.
Desired Qualifications - Momentum & Modernization:
5+ years working with the Momentum ERP technical architecture - or Comparable experience modernizing large, complex enterprise/ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Workday, or equivalent) with a strong willingness to ramp up on Momentum.
Proven track record modernizing legacy enterprise systems - refactoring monoliths, containerizing workloads, and migrating to the cloud.
