Summary
Strategic Technology Institute (STi) is seeking experienced Aircraft Mechanic III – Lead personnel to provide technical leadership while supporting KC-135 Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot-Level aircraft maintenance operations. This position is based at Fairchild AFB, WA and requires travel to support maintenance operations throughout the United States and overseas. Ideal candidates are experienced maintenance leaders with a strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and the expertise to mentor maintenance teams while ensuring safe, efficient, and mission-ready aircraft operations.
Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor aircraft maintenance personnel in daily maintenance operations.
• Coordinate and prioritize scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
• Perform inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and component replacements.
• Ensure maintenance is completed in accordance with Technical Orders, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals.
• Review maintenance documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with diagnosing and resolving complex aircraft discrepancies.
• Promote compliance with safety, quality, and maintenance standards.
• Support aircraft launches, recoveries, inspections, and operational readiness.
• Travel as required to support mission requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including 3 years of experience on an Air Force wide-body aircraft (KC-135 preferred).
• Previous lead, Crew Chief, or supervisory aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience performing Organizational, Intermediate, or Depot-Level aircraft maintenance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to interpret Technical Orders, engineering drawings, and maintenance documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and lead maintenance teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Clearance Required.
