Job Description



  • You will lead product support planning by developing sustainment strategies, evaluating support requirements, and coordinating integrated efforts that improve system readiness, affordability, and long term operational effectiveness
  • You will analyze support alternatives, assess operational risks, develop mitigation strategies, and recommend solutions that strengthen product support performance while meeting program objectives and mission requirements.
  • You will manage product support funding requirements, prepare budget recommendations, evaluate contractor proposals, and oversee logistics activities that support successful acquisition, sustainment, and life cycle management.
  • You will develop maintenance, testing, and disposal strategies by coordinating with technical experts and operational organizations to improve reliability, availability, maintainability, and overall system performance.
  • You will evaluate support metrics, identify opportunities for process improvements, conduct readiness assessments, and recommend corrective actions that enhance equipment performance throughout the entire system life cycle.
  • You will prepare reports, present logistics recommendations to leadership, participate in design reviews, and coordinate cross functional teams to ensure product support activities align with program schedules and mission priorities.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or NH-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1. Ability to develop, manage, and implement business and Product Support Plans in the defense acquisition environment at the program level.
2. Knowledge of Product Support Management and its relationship to the Systems Engineering Process as executed in the DOD Acquisition Management Framework.
3. Experience leading, participating, coaching, and facilitating activities of cross-functional and multi organizational integrated teams.
4. Oral and written presentations skills that build relationships at high-level within the government and industry.
