About the Role:
To provide management support for environmental programs and the Environmental Management Representative (EMR) involving hazardous materials, including those used in support of USCG aircraft, hazardous and industrial wastes, recyclable materials, air emissions, storm water, wastewater, storage tanks, spill prevention, and response and pollution prevention and sustainability. those used in support of USCG aircraft, hazardous and industrial wastes, recyclable materials, air emissions, storm water, wastewater, storage tanks, spill prevention, and response and pollution prevention and sustainability.
Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:
• Provide support services to environmental programs and the EMR involving hazardous materials, including those used in support of USCG aircraft, hazardous and industrial wastes, recyclable materials, air emissions, storm water, waste water, storage tanks, spill prevention, and response and pollution prevention and sustainability.
• Execute and maintain procedures to monitor and measure environmental performance while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations and fulfilling a commitment to the prevention of pollution.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to ALC on chemical related topics, management of hazardous materials, management and disposal of unusable products and wastes, recycling efforts, air emissions and equipment, storm water and waste water management, storage tank management, ISO 14001 EMS and ODS disposal.
• Provide assistance and guidance to ALC for collection, handling, storage, and disposal of new, routine or non-routine waste streams.
• Collect, arrange storage, create documents for shipping of materials in ALC e-cycling program, toner cartridge recycling program and ODS disposal program.
• Assist with the development and implementation of compliance initiatives and programs.
• Transfer containers of hazardous materials/wastes to the applicable storage area, as needed. This may be accomplished by forklift, hand truck or other devices, as applicable.
• Assist with sampling wastes for laboratory analysis. This involves using personal protective equipment while sampling a variety of waste materials.
• Manage hazardous waste Central Accumulation Areas (CAAs) IAW environmental regulations and policies.
• Assist with field oversight of industrial parts washers, paint gun cleaners and other industrial equipment. This may include containerizing wastes.
• Manage paper and plastic recycling program. Monitor paper and plastic recycling dumpsters and arrange pick up by Pasquotank County Recycling (or other vendor, as determined by the Government). Obtain documentation from recycler on dates and quantities of material recycled (whenever possible) and submit to ALC EMR.
• Provide routine monitoring of shop processes to evaluate compliance with regulatory and ISO 14001 requirements, including weekly inspection of ALC's, CAA Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA) and Universal Waste collection areas.

Experience Requirements:
- Five (5) years' experience working with NCDEQ and federal EPA regulations as they apply to:
- Hazardous materials transportation, storage, handling and usage.
- Hazardous waste handling, storage, transportation and disposal.
- Air quality as relate to emissions from industrial equipment and hazardous materials.
- Wastewater, including storm water and industrial wastewater.
- Spill prevention and response.
- Competence in OSHA Hazard Communication (29 CFR 1910.1200) and OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120), DOT Hazardous Materials Shipping, EPA regulations as applicable to the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Oil Pollution Act, EMS, and pollution prevention techniques.
- Five (5) years' experience with aircraft, associated aircraft support systems, and the environmental aspects of aviation repair.
- Five (5) years' experience working with environmental compliance regulations (as a minimum, those included in this section (5.8.1).
- One (1) year experience in ISO 14001-2015 Environmental Management Systems as related to aviation maintenance and be able to write non-conformances/non-compliances that identify issues, and to respond to them with a corrective action plan.
Education Requirements:
- High School Degree
Certificate, License, and Registration Requirements:
- HAZWOPER certified, IAW 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3). The contractor employee shall maintain the certification through attendance of refresher training per 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(8).
- Certified for DOT Hazardous Materials shipping, IAW 49 CFR Subpart H Parts 172.700- 172.704. The contractor shall maintain the certification through attendance of recurrent training every three (3) years per 49 CFR 172.704(c).
- Must have a valid state driver's license.
Other Required Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
