Job Description
Markon is seeking a Database Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by designing, optimizing, and maintaining secure, high-performance database environments supporting mission operations. This role develops scalable database architectures, automates administration, optimizes performance, and ensures the integrity, availability, and security of mission-critical data across enterprise platforms.

- Engineer, install, configure, and sustain enterprise Oracle database environments.
- Plan and execute database patches, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring, alerting, and operational management.
- Implement and maintain Oracle Data Guard for availability and disaster recovery.
- Develop Bash scripts to automate database administration and recurring maintenance tasks
- Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and storage utilization.
- Troubleshoot complex database, Linux, connectivity, backup, and recovery issues.
- Implement database security controls, hardening standards, and access-management practices.
- Document database architectures, configurations, procedures, and recovery plans.
- Provide senior technical guidance to application, infrastructure, and operations teams.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience installing, configuring, patching, and sustaining Oracle Database environments.
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Data Guard.
- Strong Linux administration and command-line experience.
- Experience developing Bash scripts for database administration and automation.
- Experience troubleshooting database availability, performance, backup, and recovery issues.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database platforms.
- Oracle database certification.
- Experience supporting highly available databases in secure enterprise environments.
