Job Description
Markon is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by leading the architecture, design, and modernization of secure software solutions that enable advanced cyber analytics and mission-critical intelligence operations. This role provides technical leadership for enterprise applications, data platforms, and cloud-native services while establishing scalable architectures, development standards, and integration strategies. The role partners with engineers, analysts, and Government stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performance solutions that support evolving mission requirements.

- Define the technical architecture for enterprise cyber analytics and fingerprinting capabilities.
- Lead the design, development, modernization, and sustainment of Java 17 applications using Spring Framework 6.
- Establish PostgreSQL data architectures, optimization strategies, performance standards, and best practices.
- Design RESTful APIs and enterprise integration patterns supporting complex analytic workflows.
- Lead Power BI architecture and resolve advanced data modeling, visualization, and reporting challenges using Power Query M and DAX.
- Guide containerized deployments and delivery automation across OpenShift environments.
- Establish and maintain GitLab CI/CD standards supporting automated testing, security, and production releases.
- Mentor software engineers through architecture reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and complex troubleshooting.
- Coordinate technical priorities with Government customers, analysts, and mission stakeholders.
- Evaluate technical risks and deliver secure, scalable, maintainable, and resilient enterprise software solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
- Bachelor's degree and 20+ years of software engineering experience.
- Expert experience architecting Java applications using Spring Framework or Spring Boot.
- Expert experience designing, optimizing, and tuning PostgreSQL databases and data access architectures.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience developing Power BI solutions using Power Query M and complex data visualization techniques.
- Experience with Python, containerized application platforms, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience leading software architecture decisions, mentoring engineering teams, and driving technical modernization efforts.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI Report Server administration and DAX.
- Experience with OpenShift, MariaDB, Elasticsearch, or Windows-based environments.
- Experience leading cyber analytics, behavioral analytics, fingerprinting, or threat intelligence application modernization initiatives.
