Job Description
Markon is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by leading the architecture, development, and modernization of secure, cloud-native applications supporting mission-critical operations. This role defines end-to-end technical solutions for serverless and full-stack AWS environments, establishes scalable data and integration patterns, and guides engineering teams in delivering resilient, observable, and high-performance applications. The role partners with customers, platform teams, and mission stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps and deploy secure enterprise capabilities using modern cloud and DevSecOps practices.

- Define end-to-end architectures for secure serverless and full-stack applications hosted in AWS.
- Lead application development and modernization efforts using Java, JavaScript, Python, and cloud-native design patterns.
- Architect mission services and event-driven workflows using Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and AWS Step Functions.
- Establish scalable data architectures using Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and multi-source data integrations.
- Define secure configuration, credential, and secrets-management patterns using AWS Secrets Manager and AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store.
- Lead CI/CD automation and production delivery using Jenkins, GitHub, AWS CodePipeline, and related tooling.
- Establish application standards for caching, resiliency, observability, security, availability, and performance.
- Design secure authentication and authorization patterns for distributed applications and enterprise integrations.
- Mentor engineers through architecture reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and complex problem-solving.
- Coordinate technical priorities and roadmaps with Government customers, platform teams, and mission stakeholders.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, assess technical risk, and guide production deployment decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
- Bachelor's degree and 20+ years of software engineering experience.
- Expert experience developing full-stack applications using Java, JavaScript, and Python.
- Expert experience architecting and delivering serverless solutions within AWS.
- Experience with Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, AWS Secrets Manager, AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing secure multi-source data integrations, APIs, and authentication solutions.
- Experience implementing CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, GitHub, AWS CodePipeline, or comparable tooling.
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and guiding application modernization initiatives.
- Strong technical leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Angular, or Vue.
- Advanced experience with DevOps, DevSecOps, and CI/CD automation.
- Experience establishing cloud governance, observability, reliability, and performance standards.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience leading the modernization of secure cloud applications within Intelligence Community environments.
