Job Description
Markon is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by designing, developing, and maintaining secure backend services and cloud-native applications that support mission-critical operations. This role develops scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and AWS-based solutions while applying DevSecOps best practices to automate software delivery and infrastructure management. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, the role partners with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications.

- Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and modern software engineering practices.
- Develop and support RESTful APIs and backend services deployed within AWS cloud environments, including Amazon ECS, AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, testing, deployment, and release activities.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable automation tools.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security across cloud-native environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues using enterprise monitoring and observability tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, or the ELK Stack.
- Develop unit and integration tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers, front-end developers, product teams, and Government stakeholders to deliver end-to-end software solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting application architecture, deployment processes, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
- Bachelor's degree and 7 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Experience deploying and supporting applications within AWS cloud environments, including ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable tools.
- Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing production systems.
- Experience developing unit and integration tests.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with additional AWS services supporting cloud-native application development.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments using Git, Jira, and Confluence.
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD mission applications.
