Job Description

Markon is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by leading systems engineering activities across the full system lifecycle for complex mission systems. This role is responsible for requirements analysis, system architecture, technical planning, integration, verification, and risk management to ensure mission capabilities are delivered in accordance with customer objectives and Department of Defense standards. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, the Systems Engineer provides technical leadership supporting the development, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise systems.



  • Lead systems engineering activities throughout the system development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Develop, analyze, and manage system, functional, and derived requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and technical architectures.
  • Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs), Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), and related technical artifacts.
  • Develop system architectures and engineering solutions using Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and other applicable engineering standards.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to evaluate requirements, develop technical solutions, and support system design decisions.
  • Coordinate Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities, engineering reviews, and cross-functional technical action items.
  • Develop interface definitions and maintain interface control documentation throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Support verification and validation planning, systems integration, test planning, and certification activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Perform technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies supporting program execution and system performance.
  • Support development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Integrated Master Plans (IMP), engineering schedules, and technical roadmaps.
  • Develop operational concepts, system threads, and end-to-end functional analyses supporting mission capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Government customers, software developers, systems engineers, and program leadership to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable mission systems.




Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline and 14+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Active IAT Level II (DoD 8570/8140 compliant) certification (e.g., Security+).
  • Experience developing and managing system, functional, and derived requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Experience developing system architectures using DoDAF, SOA, or comparable enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Experience with systems integration, verification, validation, and configuration management processes.
  • Experience developing systems engineering documentation, including SEPs, ICDs, Interface Control Documents, and technical specifications.
  • Experience supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), design reviews, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Experience performing technical risk management, requirements traceability, and systems analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Experience supporting Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation.
  • Experience supporting DoD Certification and Accreditation (C&A) or Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities.
  • Experience performing reliability, maintainability, survivability, or other non-functional systems analyses.
  • Experience supporting large-scale Intelligence Community or Department of Defense systems engineering programs.




USD $165,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 /Yr.

The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
