Systems Engineer (Secret Clearance Required)
Overview
We are seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to support complex defense and mission-critical systems through the full systems engineering lifecycle. This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in requirements development, system performance analysis, Linux environments, and cross-functional collaboration. The selected candidate will work alongside a team of engineers supporting system development, integration, testing, and operational sustainment efforts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level engineer looking to grow technical expertise while contributing to impactful national security missions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, decompose, verify, and validate system, subsystem, and component-level requirements.
Maintain requirements traceability and verification artifacts throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Perform system and software performance analysis using MATLAB-based tools.
Create, modify, and troubleshoot MATLAB scripts and functions.
Investigate system issues, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective action implementation.
Support system design, integration, verification, validation, and testing activities.
Participate in engineering reviews and technical working groups.
Assist with documenting system architecture, interfaces, and design changes.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives, engineering procedures, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support program execution and technical objectives.
Prepare technical reports, briefings, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
3-5 years of Systems Engineering or related technical experience.
3-5 years of experience developing, deriving, decomposing, and managing technical requirements.
3-5 years of hands-on experience using MATLAB, including:
Developing and modifying scripts and functions
Troubleshooting and debugging code independently
Performing analysis and processing technical data
3-5 years of experience working in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments, including:
Command line navigation
File management and editing
Permission and ownership management
Moving files across hosts, networks, and domains
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with systems engineering processes and methodologies.
Familiarity with the Systems Engineering "V" model.
Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS.
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, including Cameo Systems Modeler or similar platforms.
Experience creating technical documentation, procedures, reports, and presentations.
Experience with Jira and/or Confluence.
Experience with Python or Bash scripting in Linux environments.
Experience supporting software integration, testing, or verification activities.
Experience working with GUI-based software applications in Linux environments.
