Job Title: Laundry Porter


Job Summary:


Responsible for ensuring all laundry standards are consistently upheld at the FLETC campus in Charleston, SC. Duties include, but are not limited to, the transportation, removal, setup, and inventory management of linen lockers.


Laundry staff are responsible for ensuring all machines operate as required and that all employees perform their duties properly, safely, and according to established standards. Employees/porters must ensure linens are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for timely delivery. Staff are also responsible for collecting linens, inspecting them for wear and tear, cleaning them, and returning required items to the dorms. Additionally, staff must maintain a clean, safe, organized, and regularly inspected laundry room.


Location: Charleston, SC


Responsibilities:


  • Remove linens from each dorm and transport them to the laundry facility.

  • Restock each dorm with clean linens from the laundry as directed.

  • Wash, dry, and fold laundry daily.

  • Properly load and unload washers and dryers, ensuring correct temperature settings for various items.

  • Carry linens and supplies up and down 3–5 flights of stairs as needed.

  • Remove housekeeping trash from all buildings daily.

  • Ensure linen and laundry supplies are ordered and managed in accordance with Business and Events requirements.

  • Report to the Dormitory Manager when linens need to be discarded or replaced.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the box truck, including washing the exterior, sweeping and cleaning the interior, and ensuring it is fueled.

  • Ensure all team members comply with LAUKOA Health and Safety regulations.

  • Non-slip shoes are required each workday; consult your manager with any questions regarding appropriate footwear.

Qualifications:


  • 1–2 years’ experience in commercial or institutional laundry services.

  • Knowledge of laundry chemicals and equipment safety procedures.

  • Able to lift bags of laundry and operate heavy machinery.

  • Physically capable of repetitive motion, standing, and lifting up to 70 lbs.

  • Must meet FLETC background and conduct standards.

  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing is a condition of employment.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your driver’s license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.





Additional Requirements:


  • Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.

  • Must be available to work Saturdays



Pay Rate: $17.75/HR and H&W $5.09/HR


Schedule:


Must be able to work one of the following shifts assigned by the manager:


  • 0600 – 1500

  • 0700 – 1600

  • 1600 – 0000 (this is a straight 8 shift)



Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.
