Position Overview
SDA Solutions is seeking an experienced JIRA Developer / Administrator to support a mission-critical Department of Defense program in Arlington, Virginia. This role is responsible for administering, configuring, and optimizing enterprise Atlassian environments, including Jira and Confluence, to support Agile development teams and operational stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing workflows, implementing automation, managing system administration activities, supporting enterprise Atlassian environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve business processes and Agile delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and maintain Jira, Confluence, and associated Atlassian plugins.
Analyze existing workflows and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and support Agile methodologies.
Configure custom workflows, dashboards, filters, reports, automation rules, and advanced JQL queries.
Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and security across enterprise Atlassian environments.
Perform routine system administration activities including backups, upgrades, patching, plugin management, re-indexing, and system maintenance.
Support Atlassian migrations, integrations, and environment consolidations.
Develop reporting solutions and dashboards to support technical teams, program leadership, and stakeholders.
Monitor platform performance and maintain system stability, security, and governance.
Create and maintain technical documentation, workflow diagrams, system configurations, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
Provide user training, technical guidance, and consultation on Jira and Confluence best practices.
Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to improve Agile workflows and enterprise collaboration.
Utilize Jira reporting and analytics to support operational metrics, performance tracking, and incident management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Minimum 3 years of experience administering Jira and Confluence in enterprise environments.
Experience designing workflows, automation, dashboards, filters, permissions, and advanced JQL queries.
Experience performing Atlassian installations, upgrades, migrations, and environment consolidations.
Experience administering Atlassian plugins, including ScriptRunner and Jira Automation.
Experience supporting Atlassian environments hosted within AWS.
Experience performing system administration tasks including backups, re-indexing, patching, and platform maintenance.
Strong understanding of Agile or SAFe software development methodologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Required Certification
Current DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification. Acceptable certifications include:
Security+ CE
CySA+
GICSP
GSEC
CCNA Security
SSCP
CND
Equivalent DoD-approved IAT Level II certification
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced experience writing and optimizing JQL queries.
Experience supporting large Department of Defense or other federal programs.
Experience monitoring Atlassian infrastructure hosted in AWS.
Experience developing enterprise documentation, architecture diagrams, and user training materials.
Experience administering Active Directory.
