Apex Systems is currently hiring for a Network Engineer with a Federal/AFNCR client. Join a mission-critical team responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise network infrastructure supporting a dynamic DoD environment. In this role, you will proactively monitor network systems for alarms, outages, and performance issues, quickly identifying and resolving incidents to minimize operational impact. You'll leverage troubleshooting tools, scripts, and established procedures to diagnose complex network challenges while supporting enterprise routers, switches, and critical infrastructure components. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with vendors, manage service interruptions, and play a key role in maintaining compliance with DoD security requirements through STIG implementation, IOS upgrades, and network hardening efforts. Ideal candidates thrive in a fast-paced operational environment, enjoy solving technical problems, can balance daily operations with special projects, and are willing to participate in an on-call rotation to help ensure uninterrupted network availability and mission success.

Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:
• Bachelor’s degree with several years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a Degree
• Requires a current 8140 IAT Level II (Advanced) certificate (Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) /Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security)
• Expert knowledge with LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations.
• Expert knowledge with Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc.) and best practices on implementation
• Expert knowledge with L1/L2 network troubleshooting (Unclassified and Classified7.Expert knowledge of DoD network and application security hardening requirements
• Experienced with programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting encryption devices at network points of presence including management via GEM-X or other DoD management tools
• Experienced with DoD COMSEC management processes and procedures
Location: Joint Base Andrews, Maryland
Onsite expectation: 100% On-Site
Clearance Level: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Salary/Pay range: $120,000-$140,000
