Job Description



  • Provides guidance and advice on all critical subject areas within patient administration areas of responsibility such as patient administration policies, procedures and development.
  • Primary functions include physical disability processing, patient polices, eligibility verification and management, patient accountability, special category patients, patient privacy, biostatistical data management and vital statistics issues.
  • Communicates, educates and ensures the program principles are being followed; and, ensures the PAD Chief, command team and other staff members are fully informed of changes and updates to all of the patient administrative procedures and policies.
  • Develops solutions to complex health information management support issues and presents final actions or recommendations.
  • Takes appropriate action to ensure the military treatment facility (MTF) complies and implements administrative activities through various committee actions.
  • Develops and implements effective communication and partnerships throughout the medical treatment facility and the area of responsibility.





  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience such as assisting with workload distribution among subordinate employees; providing administrative guidance to medical facility managers regarding policies/regulations; analyzing medical treatment facility (MTF) operational performance for trends or deviations in Patient Administration Divisions; and assisting with the development of procedures and related trainings for MTF staff to improve Patient Administration Divisions performance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
