Training Specialist

Duties

• Create and update unit training programs, instructional materials, and learning products (such as Combined Arms Training Strategies [CATS] and Task Training Plans).
• Oversee and update the curriculum for Professional Military Education (PME), ensuring all lesson plans, course designs, and training materials meet Army standards.
• Serve as the final reviewer for training products. Audit, evaluate, and approve learning materials to ensure they are accurate, effective, and up-to-date.
• Manage course listings, student quotas, and schedules using standard Army training databases (such as ATRRS).
• Act as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) on training doctrine, providing recommendations to leadership on how to improve training systems and reduce costs.

• Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required approximately 10% of the time.
• In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level:
• 1) Foundational qualification requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap).
• This position is designated Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: 1) Administer professional training schedules for agency employees;2)Design educational curriculum materials for training participants; AND 3) Manage program project timelines and resources for participating students. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
