Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Asset Management (HAM/SAM) Developer to design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise Hardware and Software Asset Management capabilities and integrations. This fully remote role ensures accurate lifecycle management of hardware and software assets, enabling operational efficiency, compliance, and data integrity. You will collaborate closely with ITAM, Operations, Procurement, Finance, and other stakeholders to streamline processes and maximize value from asset data.


Development & Configuration
• Design, develop, configure, and customize ServiceNow HAM/SAM features, including workflows, Flow Designer, client scripts, UI policies, business rules, script includes, and custom applications.
• Build and maintain asset lifecycle capabilities for hardware and software assets (procurement, deployment, in‑use, maintenance, refresh, retirement/disposal).
• Configure entitlement rules, software licenses, reclamation workflows, and vendor compliance mechanisms in SAM Pro.
• Develop and enhance Service Portal components for hardware and software asset requests, tracking, and reporting.
• Ensure CMDB accuracy for both hardware and software CIs, including CI relationships, attributes, and software installations.
Integrations
• Develop and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and external systems such as inventory platforms, procurement tools, software entitlement sources, discovery tools, or financial systems.
• Utilize REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, IntegrationHub spokes, and scripted APIs for secure data synchronization across environments.

Process Improvement & Automation
• Partner with ITAM, Procurement, Finance, and Operations to gather requirements and translate them into efficient HAM/SAM technical solutions.
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual effort across asset intake, tracking, reconciliation, utilization, and retirement workflows.
• Improve SAM processes for license optimization, compliance tracking, reclamation, and usage reporting.

Support & Maintenance
• Provide expert‑level support and troubleshooting for HAM/SAM modules and related integrations.
• Conduct platform health checks, performance tuning, and apply patches and upgrades.
• Support data reconciliation activities for hardware and software inventories.
Documentation & Best Practices
• Create technical documentation, including design specs, developer guides, and test plans.
• Adhere to ServiceNow development best practices, security guidelines, and coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to platform governance.


Required Qualifications
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (sponsorship available).
• 12+ years of relevant IT/ServiceNow experience (Bachelor’s degree may substitute 5 years).
• Strong ServiceNow development background: JavaScript, client/server‑side scripting, Workflows, Flow Designer, UI Policies, Script Includes.
• Hands‑on experience implementing and managing both HAM and SAM capabilities in ServiceNow.
• Strong understanding of ITAM principles, hardware/software lifecycle processes, licensing models, entitlement rules, and compliance workflows.
• Proficiency with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, SAM Pro, and ITSM/ITAM modules.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and MID Servers.
• Experience developing Service Portal features and custom UI components.

Preferred Skills
• ServiceNow certifications: CAD, CIS‑ITAM, CSA.
• ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
• Experience with Discovery, Service Mapping, or SAM Pro optimization workflows.
• Experience with data migrations, reconciliation, and asset normalization.
• Background working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability with excellent communication skills.
