The intelligence community generates more data than any analyst can process alone - and that's exactly the problem Peraton is looking to solve. We're seeking a Journeyman Data Scientist to join USCYBERCOM J2 at Fort Meade, MD, contributing to the AI tools, ML systems, and predictive analytics capabilities that turn raw data into decision-ready intelligence.
In this role, you'll work alongside senior data scientists and intelligence analysts to build and refine data pipelines, develop visualizations, and apply machine learning techniques to real national security challenges. - Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis in support of USCYBERCOM J2 intelligence operations
- Use scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products that enable more informed analytic decisions
- Retrieve and analyze information from diverse sources to deepen understanding of complex intelligence data sets
- Assist in building AI tools that automate intelligence processes and support development of ML-based systems such as recommendation engines and automated lead scoring systems
- Perform statistical analysis, apply data mining techniques, and contribute to high-quality prediction systems
- Develop and update data visualizations using Power BI and Tableau
- Manage and merge disparate data sources using R, Python, or SQL
- Support application of Multi-INT analytics, machine learning, and automated predictive analytics under senior guidance
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Collection Managers to identify tool development needs and capability gaps
- Author and maintain Operating Instructions (OIs) for Command-wide programs and initiatives

Required:
- Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) clearance with Polygraph
- Minimum of 9 years w/o a degree or 7 years with AS/AA or 5 years with BS/BA or 3 years with MS/MA or 0 years with PhD
- Working knowledge of data science methodologies, machine learning concepts, and IC/DoD classification guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to produce timely, logical, and concise analytic reports and data products
- Proficiency in data science languages: R and/or Python
- Experience with data visualization tools: Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, R, Python, and SQL in an intelligence, government, or national security context
- Exposure to large data Multi-INT analytics, machine learning, or automated predictive analytics
- Experience managing or merging disparate data sources
- Familiarity with statistical analysis methodologies and data mining algorithms
- Knowledge of IC data standards or intelligence community data architectures
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including work within the last 2 years
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
Target Salary Range: $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
